We understand that sometimes after sending a payment, you might notice that you used the wrong account number for a payment - or even, your supplier lets you know that their banking information has changed right the second after a payment is sent!

Based on the nature of the error in the beneficiary details, there are two procedures we can follow:

Amendments

This procedure applies when there is a minor error, such as a typo in the account holder's name.

In this case, we will initiate a series of MT messages to communicate with the banks involved in the transaction, requesting an amendment to the payment details.

Additionally, remember to update the beneficiary profile too. This step helps prevent the possibility of sending erroneous payments in the future.

Recall

A recall is initiated when the payment has been incorrectly sent to a different beneficiary altogether, such as an entirely different bank account number, account holder, or SWIFT code.

The success of a recall relies heavily on the beneficiary's cooperation.

Therefore, if possible, we recommend making the beneficiary aware of this request so they can provide their consent for the funds to be returned (commonly referred to as Debit Authority) as soon as possible.

It’s important to note that the process of returning funds usually takes around 5 to 6 weeks. During this time, banks typically do not provide regular updates, but you will receive an email notification once the funds have been successfully returned.

If multiple attempts to reach the beneficiary’s bank prove unsuccessful, the recall will be deemed ineffective. In such cases, you will need to contact your beneficiary directly to discuss the matter further.

By understanding these procedures, you can navigate the complexities of changes in banking details more confidently and mitigate any potential issues that may arise.
