Ensuring that the information you provide is accurate and verified with your beneficiary is crucial.

Creating a new beneficiary on the Ebury platform is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

General Considerations

  • Special characters: Special characters such as ç, ñ, &, @, #, ~, [, ], and others are not allowed. Instead, use plain words— for example, replace “&” with “and” and “ç” with “c”.

  • Hidden characters: Be cautious when copying information from digital documents, as hidden characters might result in errors. Always check for unexpected spaces or symbols.

  • Full name required: Ensure you enter the name of the account holder in full.

Steps to Add a Beneficiary

Check our guide on specific currency/country requirements here.

  1. Access Beneficiary Section

    1. From the main dashboard, go to the 'Beneficiaries' section.

    2. Click on '+ Add beneficiary' and select 'Manually' from the dropdown menu.

  2. Select Bank Country and Currency

    1. Choose the beneficiary’s bank country and the currency of their account from the dropdown menus.

  3. Enter Beneficiary Information

    • Fill in the beneficiary's name.

    • Optionally, you can add an alias for your internal identification, an email address (and select the option to send payment execution confirmations), and a permanent payment reference.

  4. Bank Details

    • Enter the IBAN or account number without any blanks or dashes.

    • Provide the SWIFT/BIC code, which identifies the beneficiary's bank.

    • If applicable, enter any intermediary bank details (preferably just the SWIFT code).

  5. Address Information

    1. By default, the beneficiary's country should match the bank country. If not, choose the correct one from the dropdown.

    2. If you have the beneficiary's address, fill it in completely, as it may be required based on the specific country.

  6. Verification and Security

    1. If there are discrepancies between the beneficiary’s country and the bank's location, you will receive a prompt to double-check the details with your beneficiary. It’s highly recommended to verify this information via phone with a known contact rather than using numbers from email signatures.

    2. Finally, read and agree to the security confirmation, then save the beneficiary.

  7. Email Confirmation

    1. Upon successfully adding the beneficiary, an email will be sent to confirm the new addition to your account.

Troubleshooting Errors

If you receive notifications indicating that the information provided is incorrect or incomplete, double-check your entries and confirm the data with your beneficiary. Note that:

  • The SWIFT/BIC code is mandatory for most currencies, with exceptions for certain cases like USD accounts in the USA.

  • Ensure all mandatory fields are filled out before attempting to save; refer to the mandatory field list if errors persist.
