The banks involved in a payment may charge a fee for processing the payment. Intermediary banks don’t have a source account to take these charges from, so they deduce them from the payment amount.
Please note that this can also apply to incoming payments sent to your account
When submitting the payment message, we can specify the detail of the charges:
SHA: Sender will cover sending charges and beneficiary will pay all other charges
OUR: Sender will cover all charges relating to the transaction
Please note that the beneficiary bank and/or their correspondents may deduct charges even when the payment has been set as OUR.
If you want to amend the charges scheme of a payment/beneficiary, please reach out to your Relationship Manager.
For certain payments, we might be able to see which bank took the fees. If information on who took the charges is needed, please let us know. However, depending on the banks involved in the transaction, not all payments will be visible on the SWIFT GPI tool.
Please note that we have no control over fees deducted by other banks nor authority to recover them.
